Will Jumping Rope Help You Increase Your Vertical Leap?

A question that I get all the time is whether or not jumping rope will help to increase an individual’s vertical leap.  The short but not so simple answer is… Yes and No : )  Jumping rope by itself will not do much to increase your vertical. Heavy lifts such as squats and deadlifts work much better for that.  However, jumping rope will help you use your muscular power more efficiently.

There are many benefits to jumping rope such as improving your stamina and cardiovascular strength.  Jumping rope regularly will help you to burn fat which is important because you don’t need to carry around any extra pounds if you want to jump at your optimum level.  The leaner you are the better it will be for your vertical.

Jumping rope is great for improving foot speed.  That is why boxers use it so often.  However, the faster your foot speed the more efficiently you will be able to shift your power to the ground and this leads to jumping higher as well. Jumping rope is a fantastic exercise and I recommend that you work it into your vertical jump training routine. But as I mentioned earlier, it is a low intensity exercise and is not the most ideal if you are looking to quickly increase your vertical.

Focus on really heavy squats. Strengthen your quads and hamstrings. Do not do more than 3 sets of 8 reps and the 8th rep should be REALLY hard to complete.  This is the best and most simplified way to increase your vertical. If You Want To Increase Your Vertical Leap, The Jump Manual Is The Best Program On The Market!

It is the dream of every kid who plays basketball to drive down the lane and dunk.  Football players need to rise above their defenders to catch the touchdown.  And the higher a volleyball player can jump, the easier it is to rise above the net and spike the ball into the sand.  Improving your vertical leap can enhance your overall athletic performance in several ways.

There are a lot of products on the market that claim to help you with your vertical. There are strength shoes, expensive vertical jump machines, and all kinds of information saying to “do this exercise and do that exercise”.  So, with all of this conflicting information out there how do you sort it all out?

You need to get your information from someone who has actually been in the trenches and done the hard work and has had a HUGE increase in his own vertical.  Jacob Hillar has not only trained and improved his own vertical leap but he has taught hundreds of others how to do the same.

The Jump Manual is the most comprehensive vertical jump program you will find.  On his site he has a FREE 10 minute video that explains why most people fail to improve their vertical jump and what they should be doing instead. If you would like to increase your vertical I suggest you click on the banner below and head over there.
